The allure of becoming a P.I.
Becoming a Private
Investigator
Private investigation is the fifth fastest growing job in
the job market. The main draw to the business is the independence and
the intrigue associated with private investigation. Those going in to
the private investigation field do not generally do it for the money. In
fact, some private investigators make little to know money after paying
expenses. Furthermore, those who make a living as a private investigator
often work long hours.
In addition, the working conditions of a private investigator are
generally not luxurious. The majority of a private investigator’s time
is spent on the road, researching and performing surveillance. A private
investigator does not have set business hours, as his schedule is
determined by the case and the person or information he is
investigation.
Some private investigators, however, can earn as much as $100 per hour.
Also, for many private investigators, the thrill of the hunt and solving
a case that others thought to be unsolvable is award enough. To be a
private investigator with a lucrative career, both financially and
mentally, it is important to have the proper licensing, education,
credentials and, of course, clientele.
