Bounty hunters are will always be found where the fugitive was last sighted or currently at. Some bounty hunters have become famous for crossing state lines to capture the criminal and not report their presence to the local and state police.

A majority of private investigators on the other hand operate from the privacy of their offices. Aside from this, a majority go to libraries, or archives to check out the subject. They also use the computer and telephones to ask questions and gather information. You can expect that some of them, especially the legal and insurance investigators to spend hours in their cars, doing surveillance work.
